Duckett's Grove Country Fair 5th May 2013


On Sunday May 5th 2013 the historic Duckett’s Grove House and Estate will hosts its annual country fair in the courtyard area adjacent to the main house, featuring a large craft, food market and musical entertainment. Woodturning and hand knitting, pottery, art, jewellery, hand made cards, this fair is guaranteed to appeal to anybody seeking a special gift or those who just want to browse and soak in the atmosphere.

On the food front visitors will be adequately catered for with an extensive range of breads, cakes, tarts, jams, chocolate and juice and will also feature artisan cheese and meat products.

And of course for the kiddies ... free children’s face painting, free pet farm area featuring ducks, chickens, geese, pot bellied pigs, rabbits and much more and performances by Carlow based musical and entertainment groups. There will be nature trails at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. with Wildways Adventures. Discover the trees, wild flowers and mini-beasts of Duckett's Grove.

Adding to the atmosphere on the day will be a range of traditional craft demonstrations including weaving, basket making, felting and horse shoeing. A special falconry display by Woodlands Falconry will feature in the walled gardens and horse drawn carriage drives will take place in the lawn in front of Duckett’s Grove kindly provided by Carlow and District Trap and Carriage Riders Club.

The magic and fun of the Country Fair can be enjoyed in this unique setting, just 10 minutes from Carlow and Tullow off the R418 Castledermot/Tullow Road, the R726 Carlow/Hacketstown Road and the R448 Castledermot/Carlow Road. Visitors travelling from Dublin and the South should exit the M9 motorway at junction 4 and follow signs for Castledermot and the R418 Castledermot/Tullow Road.

Duckett’s Grove Design – Craft and Gift Emporium

Carlow County Development Partnership Ltd. in association with Carlow Local Authorities are delighted to present Duckett’s Grove Design – Craft and Gift Emporium, Carlow’s premier showcase for the collective work of locally based and talented craft makers.

The venue which is located in the courtyard of the Duckett’s Grove Estate contains a vibrant mix of high end art, craft and giftware products in the delicately appointed central retail exhibition space, together with four individual craft workshops producing products on site including stained glass, jewellery and wood turned items. The venue also includes a tea room facility providing high quality artisan food to enchance the visitor experience.

The Tea Rooms at Duckett's Grove are now open every Friday – Sunday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Serving homemade scones, cakes, tasty treats, gourmet coffee, tea and hot chocolate, homemade soup, quiche and open sandwiches.
